About

Our Mission

Stepping Stones Academy is committed to providing quality educational childcare in preparation for a lifetime of positive learning. We respect each child, honor their differences, and empower them to grow in a safe, nurturing environment.

OUR PROGRAMS

We serve infants, toddlers, preschoolers, and school-age children with daily educational activities, age-appropriate lesson plans, outdoor play, and structured routines that evolve as children grow.

OUR TEAM

All staff members are CPR/First Aid certified, complete 18 professional training hours annually, participate in the WV STARS Career Pathway, and pass full criminal background checks. Our teachers design daily schedules and lesson plans to support each child’s social, emotional, and academic development.

Our Nonprofit Model

As a nonprofit childcare center, we reinvest into our staff, classrooms, learning materials, and community partnerships. We also accept MountainHeart to support qualifying families.

OUR HISTORY

Originally founded in 1995 as TYKES Early Childhood Development Center, the program was created by Raleigh County businesses and community leaders dedicated to childcare access. As the center expanded, the name transitioned to Stepping Stones Academy, reflecting the focus on early education, structured learning, and child development.

NURTURING BRIGHT FUTURES WITH PURPOSE AND CARE

Stepping Stones Academy’s purpose is to create a safe, caring, and educational environment where children can grow socially, emotionally, and academically. Through hands-on learning, creativity, thoughtful routines, and meaningful relationships, we help each child build confidence, curiosity, and a strong foundation for lifelong learning.
